Our Story
The Belfast School of Homeopathy was founded in September 2003 by the Belfast Health Initiative (BHI), opening with nine dedicated students. Our school emerged from a deep commitment to strengthening natural health resources and empowering people with the skills to maintain their own well-being.
At the heart of our work lies a fundamental principle: to save, improve, and preserve the skills we have within ourselves and our communities. We believe in taking care of our own affairs as much as possible, including education and health. Our approach empowers individuals to develop their own healing skills, drawing on natural resources that have been developed over centuries.
How We Work
The Belfast School of Homeopathy operates as a cooperative, with:
- Accessible Education: Students pay according to their means, with fundraising helping to cover any deficit
- Community Support: Graduates, students, and friends provide backup with administration and catering
- Collaborative Learning: Tutors jointly develop the curriculum and arrange teaching
- Practice Development: We encourage graduates to establish their practices
Our Heritage
Our school grew from the West Belfast Homeopathy Support Group, established in 1999 to support students who had completed basic homeopathy courses. The group evolved into the Belfast Health Initiative in 2003 as demand for various Complementary Alternative Medicines (CAMs) spread throughout the community.
We've been privileged to serve communities across Ireland, providing Bach Flower Remedies and homeopathic support to areas including Garvaghy Road, Short Strand, Ardoyne, Glenbrin, and the Shankill. Our public education program has featured expert lectures on topics ranging from Alzheimer's to autism, mental health, and spiritual wellness.
The Belfast School of Homeopathy continues to champion the integration of natural healing methods within healthcare, working toward a future where complementary therapies are recognized and accessible to all who seek them.
